So, just for fun, I decided to look and see how many people in the United States have the surname "Skorman" and there's only 63; when I took out the duplicate names from that list, there's 30 or so.
There's a couple of other names that have been similarly easy to find...such as Sjolander; I can't remember how many of them there are, but suffice it to say, there aren't many.
Which is great, because by virtue of their low occurrence nationwide, surnames like Skorman and Sjolander become my micro-fine filters...kind of like Marco Island, Florida...as opposed to a surname like Weiss -- there's a whole lot of them.
Ennyhoo, so I happen to notice that the Skorman enclaves are clearly delineated.
- There's the Skormans of New York and New England...(Massachusetts, Vermont and sometimes New Hampshire).
- There's the Skormans from Ohio
- There's the Skormans of Texas (Tanner country)
- There's the Skormans of Florida (Tanner country), and
- There's the Skorman of Colorado
Because of those low numbers and delineated geographic areas, I decided to look up all businesses with a Skorman as one of its officers (president, vice president, what have you)...and those numbers were also delightfully low and manageable; only 93 businesses across the nation with Skormans in the upper echelons.
So, I took a nice hard look at the list...sorting the data this way and that...and WOW was I surprised to find under Marc Skorman, of Florida's Skorman Construction, a series of sub-companies. And of course some of them yanked at my eye...usually the silly names, you kno?
So, the company name Floribra USA jumped out at me. ˆFloribra!" I exclaimed, diving in to take a look.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear...but the Skorman name, Skorman development, and Skorman construction all over that great big, city-of-Boulder-sized train wreck more commonly known as BANNING-LEWIS RANCH. I can't remember if I read Banning Lewis Ranch is the most expensive or second-most expensive land loan bust in our nation's history.

Did you know that at one time -- perhaps not that long ago -- there was talk about building a new Disney theme park in the Banning Lewis Ranch area. Whaddaya know...more Floridality.
You know...all of these blasted pictures of Skorman smiling his weird, wet-lipped grin, I become nauseous. I've never seen that guy smile so much -- EVER.
And what's not to smile about? One of the other companies associated with the Skormans is named "Trillionaires Inc."
But what's even phonier is all of Skorman's phony-ass talk about "We don't need any more developers," and "Keep trees green", and "Don't pollute the city's night sky with lights" is CRAP...BULLCRAP...THE UNMITIGATED KIND.
JUST LIKE JANET JEAN TANNER...RICHARD SKORMAN IS A DO-AS-I-SAY-NOT-AS-I-DO HYPOCRITE AND SNEAK, SURREPTITIOUSLY KEEPING THINGS IN THE FAMILY.
NEVER -- NOT ONCE -- DID SKORMAN RECUSE HIMSELF FROM VOTES OR OTHERWISE MAKE KNOWN HIS FAMILY'S CONNECTIONS TO THE BANNING LEWIS RANCH DEBACLE...WHILE HIS WAS ON COUNCIL, AND AFTERWARD.
Back in the day, do you know how many times the very very very very very great man Dr. Ted Eastburn was accused of having a conflict of interest? AND HE NEVER DID; THERE WAS NEVER A CONFLICT WITH DR. EASTBURN.
I've been researching Dr. Eastburn's time on city council and his run for mayor; INDEED, TED EASTBURN WOULD HAVE MADE SUCH A GREAT LEADER, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SUCH A STRONG MAYOR...HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BRIDGE BETWEEN THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT. Ted Eastburn outshined everyone else; I'm not sure they even make 'em like him anymore.
I reject the official story regarding Dr. Eastburn's death.
Oh...what the people of Colorado Springs don't know won't hurt them...right? Wrong.
Later today, I'll make all of the connections between the Skormans, Florida, Banning Lewis Ranch, and HELLA WEALTHY Saudi Arabian business partners and associates.
And just FYI, I did confirm that the Noyes contributed at least $1,000 to Skorman's campaign.
Richard Skorman fails on every single level...he fails every single spider test and exam; are you going to be complacent and allow this phony baloney to be our mayor...much less our "Strong Mayor"? COME ON, Richard Skorman is the furthest thing from strong; and unless the people of Colorado Springs don't mind our city being turned into some mixed-up, gay and crazy Disney land, you will vote against him.
Vote against Skorman...vote against Bahr (how many of us found it such a convenient coincidence when Bahr was out of town right before that desperate smear campaign was lodged against Steve Bach? But when I clicked on the online Independent...guess who's shit-eating-grin I saw on their front page? That's right...Bahr.
Listen friends...the only one up there who isn't a pinko or a closet-progressive is Bach; the other two have shown as well that they are not above any low-down tactic.
I was going to make this perfect, and I'm still going to...but there's a short in my ac adapter, and I'm almost out of battery life, and I have to type what I can before my hourglass runs out....

5. Richard Skorman, the lone liberal voice on the Colorado Springs City Council, will resign his post today to take a job with Sen. Ken Salazar.
6. Skorman told The Gazette on Monday that being the Democratic senator’s regional director is the best way for him to stay involved in politics after he is term-limited in 2007. He feels he has to resign now because there could be too many conflicts if he were to hold both positions at once.
7. A downtown business owner first elected in 1999, Skorman has been the most prominent — and sometimes only — advocate for gay rights and controlled growth on the council. He pushed the council to buy and preserve Red Rock Canyon and led efforts to aid Hurricane Katrina evacuees, opening up his storefront before the city created an aid center.
8. Skorman sometimes clashed with the rest of the council and found himself on the losing side of a number of 8-1 votes, including the 2003 decision to repeal benefits for same-sex partners of city workers. But he was respected enough that the council chose him to serve as vice mayor from 2003-05.
9. The 52-year-old made his decision Wednesday; he will begin his new job in mid-April. He told only council members and senior city staffers, so that the news did not overshadow Monday’s funeral of slain police officer Jared Jensen.
10. "I wish the timing of it were different. I wish the job were offered a year from now so I could finish my term," Skorman said in an interview at his downtown office.
11. "It’s a way that I can contribute well into the future," he said. "I’m term-limited on council and I didn’t want to stop my work in helping to shape our community and helping to give back in the ways that are important."
12. The last councilman to resign was Charles Wingate, who surrendered his job in May 2003 before pleading guilty to embezzlement of public funds. The council will interview applicants and chose a replacement.
13. One council member, who spoke anonymously, said most members already want to appoint Council of Neighbors and Organizations president Jan Doran to replace Skorman. Skorman named Doran as one of three people he would like to succeed him.
14. Council members who are more conservative than Skorman could appoint someone like-minded to the at-large position. But Skorman asked them to put a similar voice on council, and Councilman Jerry Heimlicher said he, too, believes a moderate should be appointed.
15. "He’s represented a minority viewpoint on a number of issues, and he’s forced us to think, especially about environmental issues and social issues," Heimlicher said. "I would like to see someone that is not a far right-wing Republican (replace him)."
16. Skorman came to the area in 1971 as a Colorado College freshman and stayed after graduation to open a used bookstore and later a restaurant, toy store and coffee bar downtown. He once showed art-house films in the back and founded the U.S. Environmental Film Festival.
17. Before his 1999 election, Skorman led local battles for passage of the Trails, Open Space and Parks tax and against Amendment 2, an antigay-rights initiative. He often voted with the majority in his first four years, helping to pass a streamside protection ordinance and an update of the city’s comprehensive plan.
18. In 2003, the affable activist won re-election, despite voters sweeping out everyone else who’d backed same-sex benefits. He fought for mail-ballot elections and renaming Fountain Boulevard for the late Rev. Milton Proby, but he stood alone on those and other issues.
19. As Salazar’s regional director, Skorman will advise the freshman senator on important area issues, such as the expansion of Colorado Highway 16 and the Southern Delivery System water project. With no desire to run for mayor or for the Legislature, Skorman, who remains unaffiliated with a political party, prefers to be a background policy adviser — a way to maintain influence, he said.
20. Instead of a council stipend of $6,250 a year, he’ll make $48,000 a year working with Salazar, whose last regional director, Ed Raye, left in January.
21. "I hope people understand I’ll still be able to help," Skorman said.
22. The council came to depend on Skorman for a point of view that otherwise might not have been expressed, Councilwoman Margaret Radford said.
23. "Every person who loves open space, every person who loves parks and trails, has Richard Skorman to thank," Radford said. "I will miss his conscience."

Whether Colorado Springs should continue to own Memorial Hospital and how the hospital should be governed will be the focus of a work group appointed by Mayor Mary Lou Makepeace and hospital board chairman Harlan Loomas.
The plan, announced Tuesday at a joint meeting between the hospital board and City Council, may eventually offer a definitive answer to an ongoing political dilemma: What role should the city play regarding one of its largest hospitals? City ownership of Memorial - debated on and off for years - resurfaced as an issue in mayoral elections earlier this year.
Deciding who governs and runs the hospital is "part of keeping the hospital in a position where it can provide services without tapping into the general funds of the city," Makepeace said Tuesday.
Memorial made $19 million last year and expects to turn an $11 million profit this year.
The City Council and hospital board are making long-term strategic plans in the face of a changing industry. Experts expect hospitals nationwide to face future fiscal challenges as payments from the federal government decline and managed-care health insurance plans become more popular.
"You generally want issues that are long-term and more complex to be made close to, but outside, the political system," said consultant Michael Annison, who is helping the hospital develop its strategic plan. The public sector tends to use "piecemeal approaches" said Annison, president of The Westrend Group in Denver.
Hospital Executive Director Bob Peters said shedding city ownership would allow Memorial to "conduct some affairs in privacy and in a responsible manner."
But Councilman Ted Eastburn said Memorial's continued profitability while other hospitals around the country are losing millions is a testament to how well the system is working.
"I would have to see completely new, and at this point unimaginable data, to convince me to support transfer of ownership," he said.
Annison said the community's desire to retain local control of the facility makes any sale to a for-profit entity, as proposed during the election, less desirable. Other possibilities for making the hospital more autonomous include creating a nonprofit organization or a hospital authority that could collect taxes.
Councilman and hospital board member Lionel Rivera said he would support City Council serving as the hospital's board of directors as it does for Colorado Springs Utilities. In that role, the council sets utilities rates, approves budgets and makes other major decisions on the direction of Springs Utilities.
Councilwoman Joanne Colt said reducing the city's oversight of the hospital might be appropriate.
"There may be some conflicting goals, and we need to examine it," she said.
Councilman Richard Skorman agreed: "The hospital should be independent enough not to be subjected to political whims that affect its financial viability."
The work group appointed by Makepeace and Loomas will be expected to report back to the hospital board and City Council by March 1.

June, 1999: Pennsylvania-based Universal Health Services offers to purchase the hospital for $225 million. The conversations have been brief: No thanks, the council says. "What a laugh. What a joke," Councilman Lionel Rivera said. "I don't think the hospital is for sale," Rivera said.
Spring, 1999: Mayoral candidate Will Perkins makes the sale of certain city assets, including the hospital, a campaign issue. "We need to remember what the main function of city government is: public safety and infrastructure," Perkins said.
October, 1998: Council members Dawson Hubert and Bill Guman propose two ballot measures. The first would ask voters in April whether the city should sell the hospital. The second would determine whether to replace the 15-member hospital board of trustees with the City Council. At the same time, Mayor Mary Lou Makepeace planned to appoint a nine-member Blue Ribbon Commission to look into ongoing city hospital ownership.
December, 1997: City Councilman Lionel Rivera proposed that the profitable hospital to make a $30 million endowment to establish a foundation that would issue grants to human-services agencies that focus on health, the elderly and youth.
April, 1996: Memorial Hospital trustees reject an offer for either a joint venture or acquisition by Louisville, Ky.-based Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., the nation's largest hospital chain. Memorial's trustees rejected all alternatives, saying none would expand the hospital's services or improve patient care.
